Top:
Flag- Name of paper. Ex: Austin American Statesman.
Teaser- What is inside the newspaper. Some have photos, some do not.
Folio- Info. about city, school, etc. to give people more info. about it.
Headlines- one per page (minimum). explains what the first paragraph is about.
Subheadline- more info. about the paragraph.
Bi-line: who wrote the story. (postition)
Pictures- Must have a dominant photo.
Captions- 3 parts; caption head, caption, name of photographer.
sentence one tells you what is going on in the photo; "who? what? when? where? how? why?"
sentence two, background info. that you cant get from the photo. If more than 2 sentences you always include more background info or use a quote.
Front page should have about 3 to 5 stories!
Jump- where a story continues on a different page.
info. graphics- give info. in graphic form. Additional info. that supports the story. Must be in graphic form. (pie, bar, scatterplot, etc.)
3 Things that should be in every newspaper!
Volume Number, Table of Contents, Issue Number
Staff Box- organizations, editorial policy, and staff members.
