Abandoned Theme Parks

1. Tell me which amusement park featured in the two articles that you would like to visit and take your camera along and what about that park made you want to go there. Write at least a paragraph.
     The one amusement park i would like to go visit is the six flags new orleans park. The reason it was abandoned was because Huricane Katrina blew threw the city and destroyed 80% of it. Since most of it was destroyed it would be really cool to go explore and see how bad the destruction is. Most of the buildings were submerged in water for a month and i would love to see how the buildings are slowly sinking into the swamp. Nothing was removed because everyone evacuated so quickly and there was no time to protect anything. Overall it just looks like a fun place to explore.

2. Post one photo from that park. You may use the photos from the link, or you can google an entirely new photo. I would prefer to see a photo of the park in disrepair and not a photo of it when it was still operating.

3. Think of at least FIVE other unusual places you think would be of interest to photographers. List them.
1) Abandoned Airports
2) Abandoned Jails
3) Abandoned Factories
4) Old Hospitals
5) Trains, Subways, Railroads

4. Use google or another search engine to research ONE of your five places and see if anyone has already started documenting that place. If you find that someone has already started - post at least one photo of their work.
  Many people have started documenting abandoned jails and there are many photos on google.

5. Write a paragraph about why you think that it would be fun to document that location. Tell me what interests you about that place and what kind of photos you could expect to take there.
   It would be fun but also extremely creepy to take photos in an abandoned jail. It interests me because i have never been to a jail and it would be interesting to go visit one and take photos without having to deal with criminals being there. So many things happen in jail that it would be cool to go into the cells and document how it is to be stuck somewhere for a long period of time. I would be very scared and creeped out but i love exploring new places.

6. Tell me what it would take for you to go and take photos at your location. What would you need as far as equipment goes, travel plans, expenses you might encounter and what laws you would have to take into consideration to take photos at your spot.
    There are many abandoned jails located all around texas. All i would need is a camera, the supplies for camera, a car, and i would only have to worry about tresspassing laws. I would have to talk to the owner of the property & convince them to let me take photos. I would definetly be able to do it all in a day and i wouldn't have to deal with staying anywhere overnight.
