1st Story!
Who is involved? Passengers and flight crew on Canada Air Flight 878.
Who does/did the situation affect? The situation affects the many passengers that were on the plane.
What is happening? The 1st officer on the flight decided that he needed to take a nap and when he woke up he saw a light shining straight ahead and thought it was another plane. Therefore, he decided that he needed to drop altitude to avoid crashing but the bright light wasnt a plane, it was the planet Venus.
What did happen? The plane dropped altitude from 35,000 ft. to 34,600 and then back up to 35,400 ft. before going back to the original assigned altitiude of 35,000 ft.
What are the consequences? 14 passengers and 2 flight attendants were injured.
When? January 14, 2011
When did or will this happen? This happened late at night.
Where? Crossing the Atlantic Ocean
Why? The pilot had a 75 minute nap when the requirement is only up to a 40 minute nap so he woke up confused.
How? The pilot had just woken up from a long 75 minute nap and was feeling unwell and confused. So when he saw the bright light he confused it for another plane.
How many people does this affect? It affects the people that were on the flight because of their injuries but it also affects the pilots because they were not being responsible and because of them there might be stricter rules about what the pilots can/cannot do so it doesn't happen again.

Who? Police in Georgia
Who is involved? A 6 year old girl at Creekside Elementary and School Officials
Who does/did the situation affect? Affects the family of the young girl, the police department, and the school.
What? A 6-year-old Georgia was arrested after throwing a tantrum in the principal's office and damaging school property.
What did happen? The young girl was put into handcuffs for her protection and was driven down to the police station.
When? April 13, 2012
Where? At Creekside Elementary School
Why? For the safety of the police officers and the young girl.
How many people does this affect? Affects the girl, the girls family, the school, police department, and the community because most people believe that the young girl should not of been but in handcuffs.
How much does it cost? Her ablity to go to school and learn until the next school year. (August)
How do you feel about this? This was wrong because many kids throw tantrums, so does that mean we should put all kids in handcuffs when they're acting up? Someone at the school should of been more strict with her and should of been able to handle her.
3rd Story!
Who? Austin Fisher and his mother Teri Fisher
Who is involved? Austin and Teri Fisher and the school board
Who does/did the situation affect? It affects Austin Fisher because his privilege of walking the stage at graduation was taken away.
Who said so? Carrollton School District
What? Senior Austin Fisher was not going to be able to walk the stage due to too many unexcused absences.
What is happening? The school board is meeting and is now allowing his to walk the stage.
What did happen? Austin Fisher will be allowed to walk the stage at graduation.
When? 2011-2012 school year but mostly the Fall of 2011.
When was this discovered? In the spring of 2012
Where? Carrollton, Ohio
Where did or will this happen? High school in Carrollton, Ohio
Why? His mother was very ill with Stage IV cancer therefore she needed to be taken care of and driven to her chemotherapy appointments.
How? The town of Carrollton, Ohio decided that it was not fair that he wasn't able to walk the stage due to too many absences becuase he was taking care of his sick mother.
How much does it cost? His ability to walk the stage.
